What’s the show? Anima Yell! Episode 6.
So how’s this episode? Kawaii desu~!
Please stop doing that… it’s embarrassing… I can’t help it, I’ve just fallen head over heels for these cute cheerleader girls! They’re so wholesome and supportive of each other, it’s like a shot of pure happiness shot directly into my eyes!
That’s kind of a violent image. Not what I intended at all, I assure you!
Also, can you stop with ending all your sentences with an exclamation mark(!) it’s off putting. No!
Grr, so what’s this episode about anyway? The girls of the ‘cheer association’ have hit the big time! By which I mean the moderately middle ground of being asked to perform at an “opening” of sorts… I’m not sure what it is exactly, I probably should have read that event poster that the show lingered on for like 12 seconds but it’s some sort of open-air event and there will be food and performances by local school groups and you know what that means?!
Not a clue… Training montage! The girls are going to perform a cheer routine in public, with a stunt too! Which means a week of hard training to make sure they’re in tip-top shape for the event! And so the day comes, or rather the rehearsal day comes and things go more or less okay… except new recruit Kotetsu is having ~performance anxieties~ but they’re a team and they’ll pull together by being together and wholesomeness and squee!
Please. Please don’t “squee” in my presence again… Tch! Anyway, the big day comes, they do their show and it’s not exactly perfect, there’s little errors here and there from everyone even the usually flawless Hizume ends up getting caught up in the moment and forgets a cheer midway through only to be helped out by Uki. And then, when they’re doing their high kicks, Kohane and Kotetsu’s kicks are vastly lower than the other two and that makes sense because they’re new and Kohane has issues with her physical flexibility and I just love that this show has such attention to detail to such little things! And thank goodness they’ve still never sort to resort to awkward CGI for these cheer sequences, I’ll take slow pans over still images any day of the week!
So overall a good episode then? It’s terrific! Easily the best one yet, there’s laughs, there’s feels, there’s just an all-round atmosphere of positivity and it’s the kind of thing that reminds me why I watch CGDCT anime. This isn’t some genre breaking, deep and introspective classic, it’s just a darn good time with some adorable and endearing girls and sometimes that’s all you need!
